COLTS NECK HIGH SCHOOL, 59 FIVE POINT ROAD (CORNER ROUTE 537)

Dear Neighbor,

Naval Weapons Station Earle has informed Colts Neck Township and the surrounding communities of a plan to rent housing on the Base to members of the general public.  Currently, the Department of Defense has put a 60-day temporary stay on the proposal, expiring on February 1st. I’m writing to invite you to an open public meeting on this issue, scheduled for 6PM on January 17th at Colts Neck High School located 59 Five Points Road in Colts Neck Township. I will be joined by local officials to hear directly from members of the general public.

I am in steadfast opposition to this proposal based on the safety and financial concerns I have heard from local leaders and residents. It is imperative that you attend this important public hearing. The current proposal is a dangerous one. I do not believe that members of the general public should to be granted access to an active military weapons installation. To that end, I have introduced legislation in the State Senate urging our State officials to use all powers necessary to halt the Department of Defense’s initiative. Your county and local governments have also taken strong stands against this proposal and we are now seeking your voice so the Department of Defense can hear directly from those impacted the most.

I hope that you will stand with me on the premise that allowing non-military personnel onto an active military weapons installation is not in the best interests of this area’s safety. Please join us at 6PM, January 17th at Colts Neck HS.

Sincerely,

Senator Jennifer Beck
