The Township Committee will be meeting on the following dates for the purpose of reviewing and formulating the 2012 Municipal Budget (links are/will be enabled):

February 22, 2012 Workshop, 7:00 p.m.
February 25, 2012 Workshop, 8:30 a.m.
March 3, 2012 Workshop, 8:30 a.m. (agenda to be posted shortly)

All meetings will be held at Town Hall, 124 Cedar Drive. Tentative decisions pertaining to the budget will be made at these sessions. the public is invited and encouraged to attend.

ROAD CLOSURE 2/22, 9:00 P.M. TO 2/24, 6:00 A.M.

Starting at 9:00 p.m. February 22, 2012 through 6:00 a.m., February 24, 2012, the County will be closing Route 520 between Route 34 and the intersection of Boundary/Conover Roads for road repair in both directions.

CONTROLLED BURN AT NWS EARLE

Controlled burns are being conducted at NWS Earle in forested areas adjacent to Route 34 in Colts Neck and Howell under the supervision of the NWS Earle Fire Department. The controlled burns will continue throughout February and March, since the risk of forest fires is very low during those months.

PROPERTY TAX APPEALS – APRIL 1, 2012 DEADLINE

Property tax appeals must be filed no later than April 1, 2012.

For your convenience, Monmouth County has created an on-line tax appeal filing system, the link to which is as follows:

If you choose to use the on-line system, you must create a user name and password. Follow the prompts to file the property tax appeal. Payment is made on teh last page using a credit card. Once submitted, all parties electronically receive their copies.

SNOW REMOVAL – MUNICIPAL CODE

All property owners, occupants, and/or tenants must ensure snow removal is in compliance with the following municipal code. Failure to comply may result in the issuance of a summons.

173-15. Snow removal.

A. The owners or operators of all business or commercial uses in the Township of Colts Neck providing parking lots utilized by either the general public, customers, deliverymen and/or employees of the business or commercial use shall plow the snow in such a manner as to allow adequate use of the parking lot prior to the opening of business.

B. No owner or occupant of a business or commercial use in the Township of Colts Neck shall plow, cause to be plowed or allow to be plowed snow from his or her business premises and/or the parking lot onto adjoining properties or onto streets utilized by the general public in the Township of Colts Neck.

C. All owners, occupants and/or tenants of residential dwellings in Colts Neck Township shall be prohibited from plowing, throwing, stacking or in any other manner moving snow from their property onto the public streets within the Township of Colts Neck.

D. Snow shall not be accumulated or stored at any of the following locations on any parking lot which contains six or more parking spaces and which is ancillary to any commercial use:

(1) Fire lanes: within any designated, delineated or required fire lanes.

(2) Ingress and egress driveways: within any driveway providing ingress and egress to the site from any public or private street.

E. Snow shall not be accumulated or stored, except in accordance with the following standards, within any of the following described sight triangle within any parking lot referred to in Subsection D herein:

(1) Parking lot driveways. Sight triangles of parking lot driveways which intersect public or private streets, as described below, shall not have snow accumulated higher than 2.5 feet (30 inches) inside such sight triangle. The sight triangle for a driveway shall be described by sight points located on the center line of the driveway a distance of 15 feet from the curbline, or the edge of the cartway in the event there is no curbline, or edge of the cartway, of the intersecting public street a distance of 90 feet from the center line of the driveway.

(2) Drive aisles within parking lots. The triangular-shaped area within the parking lot at the intersection of drive aisles shall not have snow accumulated higher than 2.5 feet (30 inches) inside said sight triangle. Such sight triangle shall be described by sight point located at the center line of a parking lot drive aisle a distance of 15 feet from the edge (i.e., geometric plane) of the intersection collector drive aisle and on the center line of the collector drive aisle a distance of 25 feet from the center line of the other driveway.

F. The provisions of this chapter shall be enforceable by the members of the Colts Neck Township Police Department.

Clothing Donation Bins To Benefit the Township

Clothing donation collection bins that directly benefit Colts Neck residents are in place at three locations in the Township: Fire Company 1 (Route 537), Fire Company 2 (Conover Road near Heyers Mill Road), Becker’s Hardware parking lot, and the Public Works yard (Route 34 North, just south of Route 18). The Fire Company bins are accessible 24/7 and benefit Fire Department operations. The bin at Becker’s Hardware is available 24/7, and Public Works bins are accessible Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; both locations support the Colts Neck Police DARE Program.
