You may be interested to know that some work commonly thought of as maintenance does require permits from the Township. Examples of this type of work are: roofing, siding, sheds, heat replacement or conversion, decks, cabanas and pools in addition to new structures such as barns, garages and additions.

It is important to know that most permits require at least two inspections for each inspector involved (i.e., building, plumbing, electric, fire). NJ State law N.J.A.C. 13:45 A-16.2 states that final inspections are required before final payment is made to contractors.

The permit applications can be obtained at the Building Department at Town Hall any Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4:30. Most applications require a location of the new structure. Any questions on the permit procedure can be answered by the Building Department secretary, Pat Famularo.
